Oily, Dull or Dry Skin?? Check Out these NATURAL Skin Care Solutions I’ve Got For You!
One thing I’ve learnt over the years I’ve been a skincare formulator is that when it comes to skincare, sometimes the simplest ingredients are the most powerful.
I’ve spent years studying the science behind skincare, and I’ve become obsessed with natural ingredients. Why? Because they work! Mother Nature has provided us with an incredible array of botanicals, fruits, and oils that can transform our skin.
Below, I share some of my favourite natural remedies for oily, dull and dry skin. These are effective treatments you can whip up in your kitchen. Try them. You’ll love them when you see how effective they really are.
Remember, consistency is key with natural remedies. Always perform a patch test before trying new treatments, and discontinue use if irritation occurs.
1. DRY SKIN? Here are my skin care solutions. Simply learn to hydrate it naturally, you’ll see the difference!
You have dry skin when it feels tight, rough, or flaky, especially after washing or exposure to cold, dry air.
DRY SKIN? Hydrate it naturally!💧
🥑 Avocado (rich moisturiser)
Avocado is packed with fatty acids and vitamins A, D, and E, making it a powerhouse for dry skin. Its oils mimic your skin’s natural sebum, deeply nourishing and protecting the skin barrier.
- Mash 1/2 ripe avocado, apply for 15 minutes, then rinse off with lukewarm water.
- Use twice weekly for best results. Most people see improved hydration within 2-3 weeks of consistent use.
- Pro tip: Mix with a teaspoon of agave nectar or maple syrup for added humectant properties.
🌵 Aloe Vera (hydrating gel)
Aloe vera is 99% water, making it incredibly hydrating. It also contains compounds that reduce inflammation and promote collagen production, helping to plump dry skin.
- Apply a thin layer of pure aloe vera gel for 15-20 minutes, then gently rinse off.
- Can be used daily, especially after sun exposure. Noticeable improvement in skin hydration often occurs within a week.
- Ensure you’re using 100% pure aloe vera gel without added alcohols or fragrances.
🥥 Coconut Oil (deep moisturiser)
Rich in medium-chain fatty acids, coconut oil helps to reduce water loss from the skin. It also has anti-inflammatory properties that can soothe dry, irritated skin.
- Warm a small amount between palms, gently massage into skin for 5 minutes.
- Best used at night, 2-3 times a week. Many users report softer skin within days.
- Caution: May clog pores for some people. Always patch test first.
🍌 Banana (vitamin-rich)
Bananas contain vitamins A and C, which promote skin cell turnover and boost collagen production. They also have a high potassium content, which helps balance skin’s moisture levels.
- Mash 1/2 ripe banana, apply for 15 minutes, then rinse with cool water.
- Use once or twice a week. Skin often feels softer immediately, with long-term benefits appearing after a few weeks.
- For extra moisturising power, mix with a tablespoon of plain plant-based yoghurt.
🥛 Oatmeal (soothing)
Oats contain beta-glucans, which form a fine protective film on the skin. They also have anti-inflammatory properties and can help balance skin pH.
- Mix 2 tbsp ground oats with water to form paste, apply for 10 minutes, then rinse.
- Can be used 2-3 times a week. Many people notice reduced redness and itching associated with dry skin within days.
- For sensitive skin, use colloidal oatmeal, which is finer and less likely to irritate.
2. Oily skin? Not to worry. I’ve got effective natural skin care solutions for you that balance your skin naturally
You have oily skin when it appears shiny, feels greasy to the touch, and is prone to acne and enlarged pores, especially in the T-zone (forehead, nose, and chin).
OILY SKIN? Balance it naturally!🍃
🍎 Apple Cider Vinegar (pH balancer)
Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) helps restore the skin’s natural pH balance, reducing excess oil production. Its alpha-hydroxy acids gently exfoliate, removing dead skin cells that can clog pores.
- Mix 1 part ACV with 3 parts water, apply as toner for 5 minutes, then rinse.
- Use 2-3 times a week. Many users report less oily skin within 1-2 weeks of consistent use.
- Always dilute ACV to avoid irritation. Start with a weaker solution and gradually increase strength if needed.
🍵 Green Tea (astringent)
Green tea is rich in polyphenols and tannins, which have astringent properties that help tighten pores and reduce sebum production. It also has anti-inflammatory benefits for acne-prone skin.
- Brew strong green tea, cool, then use as a face mist or gentle pat-on toner.
- Can be used daily. Most people notice a reduction in shine after a week of regular use.
- Pro tip: Refrigerate the tea for a refreshing, pore-tightening effect.
🍅 Tomato (natural astringent)
Tomatoes contain salicylic acid, a common ingredient in acne treatments. They also have astringent properties that help tighten pores and reduce oil production.
- Rub tomato slice on face for 5 minutes, rinse after 15 minutes.
- Use 2-3 times a week. Skin often feels less oily immediately, with long-term benefits appearing after a few weeks.
- For sensitive skin, dilute tomato juice with equal parts water before applying.
🌿 Neem Oil (antibacterial)
Neem oil has powerful antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, making it effective against acne-causing bacteria. It also helps regulate sebum production without over-drying the skin.
- Mix 3-4 drops of neem oil with 1 tsp aloe vera gel, apply for 15 minutes, then wash off.
- Use 2-3 times a week. Many users see a reduction in acne and oiliness within 2-3 weeks.
- Always dilute neem oil before use. Its strong smell can be masked by adding a drop of lavender oil.
🍊 Orange Peel (vitamin C)
Orange peel is rich in vitamin C, which helps control excess oil production and brightens the skin. It also contains citric acid, which gently exfoliates and unclogs pores.
- Dry and grind peel, mix with water into paste, apply for 15 minutes, then rinse.
- Use once or twice a week. Skin often feels fresher immediately, with oil control improving over a few weeks.
- Sun-dry or oven-dry orange peels for best results. Store excess powder in an airtight container.

- Riper papayas have more active enzymes. Mix with honey for added moisturising benefits.
🍚 Rice Water (gentle exfoliant)
Rice water is rich in vitamins and minerals that nourish the skin. It contains inositol, a compound that promotes cell growth and stimulates blood flow, resulting in brighter skin.
- Soak rice, use the strained water as a face wash or 10-minute mask, then rinse.
- Can be used daily as a face wash or 2-3 times a week as a mask. Many users report smoother, brighter skin within 2 weeks.
- Save leftover rice water in the refrigerator for up to a week for multiple uses.
