Our Daily Orange Juice is a Must!

February: time for daily orange juice! We should have started some time ago. I went through a TERRIBLE case of flu (tainted with mild bronchitis and what I do believe was mild pneumonia as well). Did I take my herbal medicines? No! Why? I was too ill and I still need to learn more about this whole herbal medicine topic/world.

Orange tree at our finca in Tenerife

Yes. There’s so much to learn! I should have been taking ginger decoctions (couldn’t get out of bed to make them), thyme infusions, breathing eucalyptus boiling leaves or burning eucalyptus essential oil on my diffuser… but no. I did nothing of the sort.

Instead, I was shaking in bed with a bad case of fever, ended up in hospital at 4am one night begging for help. It was bad… and I need to up my game when it comes to natural medicine. I have stuff at home and it could have been done! Anyway, I’m better now but hey, still coughing like mad one month later.

Not ready… yet.

Which takes me to the oranges. My body was asking for oranges every day (particularly after I was getting a little better). I craved them like there’s no tomorrow. In fact, I got so desperate I had to buy them asap and then decided to ask my brother if I could just ‘help myself’ to his oranges in La Finca, to which he said ‘yes’ : )

Loving picking the oranges
This year they’re really juicy

So, Lynn and I are going to La Finca regularly and the plan is to ‘help ourselves’ as much as we need when it comes to the oranges. We’re having our daily orange juice (and, MY GOD ARE THEY SWEET!!) which is fabulous.

Last year and the year before the oranges were a bit sour (sorry brother, I know how hard you work on the land but they were not as good as this year). Oh, yes, this year they’re wonderfully sweet and lovely and packed – I mean PACKED with juice. Out of this world!

Some where pulled a little too hard from the tree
These ones will go orange over time

I’ll leave you with more pics of Lynn and I ‘helping ourselves’. How lucky are we – I must admit I am aware of this… on a daily basis. Good day everyone!
