Essential oils for wrinkles.

My 2 Favourite Ways of Using Frankincense for Wrinkles

I write so you share. Thank you.

As a certified organic skincare formulator, I’ve been using frankincense essential oil in my night cream for years, and my customers rave about the results. Many expensive creams on the market contain unnecessary or even harmful ingredients, but you can easily enhance your skincare routine with frankincense essential oil and a bit of know-how.

Why frankincense essential oil?

Frankincense essential oil is the perfect choice for promoting youthful, radiant skin.

Its unique compounds, including alpha-pinene, limonene, and linalool, work together to nourish, protect, and rejuvenate your skin.

Benefits:

  1. Nourishment: Frankincense essential oil deeply nourishes the skin, providing it with the nutrients it needs to maintain a healthy, glowing appearance.
  2. Protection: The compounds in frankincense essential oil help protect the skin from environmental stressors and free radical damage, which can lead to premature aging.
  3. Rejuvenation: Regular use of frankincense essential oil can help rejuvenate the skin, reducing the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and age spots.

My 2 favourite ways of using frankincense essential oil for wrinkles

Always use pure, high-quality frankincense essential oil and be cautious when mixing it with skincare products. Here’s my recommended one. If you have sensitive skin or are unsure, consult a dermatologist or skincare professional before trying this method.

Using frankincense to tackle fine lines and wrinkles it EASIER than you think!

1. Pair your frankincense essential oil with other carrier oils

Frankincense is a potent oil and needs a carrier oil for safe application. Mix a few drops of frankincense essential oil with your favourite carrier oil (e.g., jojoba, rosehip, or almond oil). This helps the frankincense absorb better and reduces the risk of skin irritation

1.1 Choose a carrier oil

  • Select a carrier oil that suits your skin type, such as jojoba oil for oily or combination skin, rosehip oil for mature or dry skin, or sweet almond oil for sensitive skin.
  • Pour 1 tablespoon (15ml) of your chosen carrier oil into a clean, dark-coloured glass bottle with a dropper.

1.2 Add frankincense essential oil

  • Using the dropper, add 3-5 drops of pure frankincense essential oil to the carrier oil.
  • The ratio should be approximately 2-3% essential oil to carrier oil, which is safe for facial application.
  • Replace the dropper and cap, then gently shake the bottle to mix the oils thoroughly.

1.3 Perform a patch test

  • Before applying the frankincense oil blend to your face, do a patch test to check for any adverse reactions.
  • Apply a small amount of the oil blend to the inside of your wrist or behind your ear.
  • Wait 24 hours to see if any redness, itching, or irritation occurs. If not, it should be safe to use on your face.

1.4 Apply the frankincense oil blend to your face

  • After cleansing your face in the evening, apply your usual toner and serum (if you use them).
  • Using the dropper, place 3-4 drops of the frankincense oil blend into the palm of your hand.
  • Gently rub your hands together to warm the oil, then press your palms onto your face, focusing on areas of concern such as fine lines or age spots.
  • Massage the oil into your skin using upward and outward circular motions, being careful to avoid the eye area.

1.5 Follow up with moisturiser

  • If your skin feels like it needs additional hydration, apply a small amount of your regular moisturiser over the frankincense oil blend.
  • This will help seal in the oil and provide an extra layer of nourishment.

1.6 Use consistently for best results

  • For optimal benefits, use the frankincense oil blend consistently in your evening skincare routine.
  • You can use it daily or every other day, depending on your skin’s needs and tolerance.
  • Be patient, as it may take several weeks to see visible improvements in your skin’s appearance.

2. You can add frankincense to your favourite skincare products

Want to give your existing skincare products a boost? Just add a drop or two of frankincense! Mix it into your moisturiser or serum an extra anti-aging kick!

2.1 Choose your favourite skincare product

  • Select a moisturiser, serum, or face mask that you already love and use regularly.
  • Make sure the product is suitable for mixing with essential oils (avoid products with active ingredients like retinol or AHAs).

2.2 Add frankincense essential oil

  • Open your chosen skincare product and add 1-2 drops of pure frankincense essential oil per 10ml of product.
  • If you’re unsure about the amount of product, start with a small batch in a separate container to test the ratio.

2.3 Mix thoroughly

  • Using a clean spatula or stirring rod, mix the frankincense oil into your skincare product until it’s fully incorporated.
  • Make sure to mix gently to avoid creating air bubbles in the product.

2.4 Test the enhanced product

  • Before applying the frankincense-enhanced product to your entire face, do a patch test to ensure your skin tolerates the added essential oil.
  • Apply a small amount of the mixed product to your inner wrist or behind your ear, and wait 24 hours to check for any adverse reactions.

2.5 Apply the enhanced product to your face

  • If the patch test shows no irritation, apply the frankincense-enhanced skincare product to your face as part of your regular routine.
  • Use the product as directed, whether it’s a daily moisturiser, serum, or a weekly face mask.

2.6 Adjust the ratio if needed

  • If you feel that the frankincense scent is too strong or your skin is more sensitive, reduce the number of drops added to your skincare product.
  • You can always start with less and gradually increase the amount of frankincense oil until you find the perfect balance for your skin.
