Natural Toothpaste Without Fluoride: JĀSÖN® Powersmile All-Natural Whitening Toothpaste Review
An SLS Free, Fluoride Free, Gluten Free Toothpaste
In this post I’ll be reviewing the Jason powersmile all-natural whitening toothpaste. Both Lynn and I have been using it for the past week or so and we can both say we’re very impressed with the performance.
I haven’t looked at the ingredients or the brand (Jason) properly yet so needless to say I’ll take the opportunity here to do some research. (Here’s our Kingfisher Baking Soda Toothpaste Review if you want to check it out).
We Found it While Browsing
Lynn and I were browsing products at ‘As Nature Intended’ in London, UK (Marble Arch store) and came across and offer we couldn’t refuse: a fluoride free toothpaste that was selling for a great price (I can’t remember now how much we paid for it).
After checking the different flavours we settled for the PowerSmile toothpaste with powerful peppermint. It sounded good, it looked good and the price was good. We couldn’t really go wrong.
The Product
Jason offers a wide range of products: Their website says the brand: “…has grown in to a leading Global brand for people who look after themselves and their families from head to toe the natural way.”
Like many of us, the people behind the brand ‘Jason’ started making products for their family and friends. Their humble beginnings have lead to a huge company selling their natural skincare products all over the world.
I like what the description of the product says on their website:
JĀSÖN® Whitening Toothpaste All Natural Toothpaste features an exclusive blend of natural polishers and stain-fighting botanicals, including Bamboo Powder, Calcium Carbonate, Sodium Bicarbonate (Baking Soda) and Silica, to help prevent tartar build-up while gently whitening and brightening your smile. Natural Grapefruit Seed and Perilla Seed Extracts help fight damaging sugar acids while Natural Peppermint Oil powerfully freshens your breath. For a brilliantly white smile and fresh breath, use JĀSÖN® Powersmile® toothpaste and mouthwash twice a day.
Our Rating
I’m going to give this toothpaste an 9 out of 10. I was very impressed because it ticked all the boxes (scent, texture, foam when brushing, flavour, colour, tub, etc) but MAINLY because my teeth looked whiter only after 2/3 days of using it.
Yes, the ‘whitening’ ‘promise’ is true. I have bought many, many ‘whitening’ toothpastes in my life (not the expensive ones) and none have ever worked so I just integrated the word into the pull of ‘blah blah’ terms brands use on their products.
Not this time though. This time it proved to be true!
Yes. Well impressed.
A Little About the Brand…
I can see the brand has won quite a few awards so I’m assuming the brand has had some praise and recognition along the way. Having started in 1954 definitely gives way to getting better and better over time. It makes me feel a bit uneasy regarding being able to get good with my own products – but sometimes simplicity is the key and getting too big can always be a dangerous thing.
A Toothpaste Without Fluoride that is Working for Us
I’m loving this toothpaste. Actually, both Lynn and I love it. Transitioning from commercial brands makes our job a little difficult at times because we’re so used to those other brands… I suppose if the natural brands we’re now ‘migrating to’ were too different we would find it a bit more difficult.
Not with this toothpaste though. It tastes and smells like a ‘regular’ commercial toothpaste but it has that natural feel to it from beginning to end.
My mouth feels INCREDIBLY FRESH (I assume from the peppermint) after rinsing… I mean, incredibly fresh. The aftertaste and the peppermint ‘linger-factor’ is something I don’t get with the commercial brands. Yes, this is definitely very fresh (without burning or feeling too overpowering). Just a perfect balance.
Our First Impression
The faint yellow-ish colour was a little different to what I had been used to (white or stripy) so that took some time as I’d never seen a toothpaste that colour but other than that, it felt ‘familiar’ from the very beginning (as opposed to the natural deodorant we bought, for example, which we have to spread using our fingers, something we’d never had to do with the commercial deodorants in the past).
Smell, Texture & Feel
Lovely smell. Minty because of the peppermint but it also has that natural hint you get from the essential oils (rather than just ‘a minty toothpaste’). Not too pasty but pasty enough to go on nicely on the toothbrush and teeth. I love it.
A Chemical Free Toothpaste with a Promise!
Have a look at the picture below and you’ll see ‘the Jason promise’ on the side of the tub. Nice.

Reviews
The reviews for this toothpaste are quite impressive. Check them out here. It really is worth spending time reading them, you’ll see many people make the same comments I’ve made above.
Size/Amount
The tub doesn’t feel ‘small’ (I’ve seen expensive toothpastes’ tubs which bring such a small amount of paste you feel you’re not getting enough for your money) but this is not the case.
The particular tub I bought weights 170g, I’m not sure if there are other sizes, I shouldn’t think so.
Who Benefits from This Toothpaste?
Anyone looking for a non toxic, chemical free, sls free, natural whitening, non-fluoride toothpaste that leaves your breath feeling minty fresh and your teeth whiter. Maybe a little strong for children – I would buy a natural toothpaste for children instead.
**Children can also enjoy a Kids Only!™ Orange Toothpaste from the same brand.
So, Does it Work?
Yes it does!
Final Thoughts
We will most definitely buy this toothpaste again and we strongly recommend it if you’re looking for a more natural way of cleaning your teeth or if you’re not happy with natural brands you’ve tried.
We Like this Jason Toothpaste!
It would be interesting to try other flavours and see if they work as well as this one.
