How to Diminish Wrinkles with Olive Oil
OH – how I LOOOOVE olive oil!! I drizzle it all over my salads, I dip bread all over it, I slather it on my face.
Yes. I do all of that because olive oil is AMAZING.
So, you have a bottle of extra virgin, organic, cold pressed olive oil for your salads here and there… and you’ve heard it’s good for skincare… well, you’ve heard right!
Olive oil is WONDERFUL for skincare.
Olive oil for skincare…. WONDERFUL!!
As we get older the signs of ageing in our skin, hair, and body begin to show. I don’t mind my wrinkles. I actually like them. But I also like to hydrate my skin with good oils, and olive oil does the job VERY NICELY, thank you very much.
One of the biggest causes of wrinkles on our face is ageing, as we all know, but it can be diminished with the use of olive oil if you know how to apply it (don’t worry, all of that info below).
There are different oils you can start using from the age of 30, I’d say, and in different ways. What can I say, olive oil is PERFECT for mature skin. It is safe and VERY effective.
In fact, olive oil is a FABULOUS moisturiser (locks in hydration) which can help your skin look plump, fresh and vibrant by combating the damaging elements that come from pollution, stress, et al.
It is moisturising, softening, regenerating and offers anti-inflammatory properties.
Its polyphenol content has been shown to help with sun damage and the vitamin E content has antioxidant properties.
But it is its high oleic acid content together with squalene, which makes up to 40-50% of the oil that gives it its WONDERFUL POWER. Oleic acid is VERY moisturising and regenerating with anti-inflammatory properties and absorbs well into the skin. Squalane helps soften the skin, helps prevent UV damage, has regenerative properties and can also be anti-bacterial.
Yes, this oil is a TREAT for the skin!
It is easy to see how olive oil can be used to reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and works to diminish visible signs of ageing.
NOTE: Wrinkles are part of the ageing process and cannot be reversed. We can reduce their appearance by using lovely natural ingredients like olive oil, which will help minimise the signs of ageing. We can reap the benefits of the oil by combining it with other ingredients which are shown below.

How to Use Olive Oil to Diminish Wrinkles
How to Use Olive Oil for Wrinkles
- At night, cleanse as usual and make sure to pat dry if you use water when you cleanse
- Take a few drops of olive oil on your fingertips
- Massage around your face and neck in circular motions for a few minutes and/or the oil has absorbed.
- Leave throughout the night
When to Apply
- Every night for at least 30 days to see differences. If you are 40+ do for at least 60 days.
Mixing Olive Oil with Avocado Oil
Avocado oil is another GREAT oil for mature skin. It has a high amount of palmitoleic acid, which we stop producing as time goes by. Mixed with olive oil it is a powerful anti ageing formula that works wonders to diminish fine lines and wrinkles. It also has healing properties which help to moisturise, repair and strengthen the skin.
You Will Need
- 3-5 drops olive oil
- 3-5 drops avocado oil
How to Apply
- Mix both oils in the palm of your hand and apply in circular motions til absorption occurs
- Do not rinse
- Repeat every night for 30 nights or 60 nights if you are 40+
Mixing Olive Oil with Apple Cider Vinegar
Apple cider vinegar balances the pH of your skin and will also work as an astringent.
You Will Need
- 1 tsp apple cider vinegar and 1 tsp of water combined
- 5 to 10 drops of olive oil
- Cotton pad
How to Apply
- Apply the apple cider vinegar and water mix to your face using the cotton pad

- Massage the olive oil into your skin, always in circular motion
- Repeat every night for 30 nights or 60 nights if you are 40+
Mixing Olive Oil with Castor Oil
I love castor oil although it can feel al little heavy. But castor oil is so effective at delivering nutrients to your skin due to its fatty acid content that it is a must-have in any mature skin beauty regimen. It helps to promote cell regeneration, repair damaged tissue and strengthen the skin by increasing collagen production.
You Will Need
- 3-5 drops olive oil
- 3-5 drops castor oil
How to Apply
- Mix and apply over your face and neck in circular motions.
- Repeat every night for 30 nights or 60 nights if you are 40+
Mixing Olive Oil with Vitamin E
Vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant working against oxidative stress. I use it in all my formulas.
You Will Need
- 1 capsule vitamin E
- 3-5 drops olive oil
How to Apply
- Pierce the vitamin E capsule
- Pour the thick content into your hand
- Add the drops of olive oil and mix
- Apply after cleansing your face and neck
- Leave overnight
- Repeat every night for 30 nights or 60 nights if you are 40+
Mixing Olive Oil with Turmeric
Turmeric is also a powerful antioxidant that helps promote collagen production and in turn improves skin elasticity.
You Will Need
- 1 tablespoon of olive oil
- Half a teaspoon of turmeric powder
How to Apply
- Mix the olive oil and turmeric powder
- Apply the paste to the areas where you want wrinkles to diminish
- Leave for 15 minutes and rinse off with lukewarm water
- Apply a few drops of olive oil to moisturize
- Repeat every day for 30 nights or 60 nights if you are 40+
**Turmeric can stain clothing, so make sure to wrap an old towel around your shoulders
A Few Tips
You can do the above regularly. Choose one method once a week. Then change to a different method the week after. And so on. See which one you prefer, stick to it over time…
Give it 2-3 months and you’ll see the difference.
As you switch from commercial products to natural ingredients you will see what I mean when I say that expensive creams and other products are not necessary most of the time. Believe me, I’ve been using natural ingredients for YEARS and my skin looks WONDERFUL.
Here are a few other tips:
- Always buy organic products that are cold-pressed and extra virgin.
- Apply the oils onto your face and neck in circular motions.
- Drink a lot of water (at least 8 glasses, if you can, some days I can, some days I can’t…)
- Avoid smoking and stress. If you smoke you are looking at 7 to 10 years of gain time on your face. Stress also speeds up the ageing process by constricting blood flow and accelerating cell degeneration.
Hope the above help. I know it’s not easy at times. But slowly you can make the switch!
Conclusion
Olive oil is a lovely base to use in your formulations as it is safe, natural and effective.
It is one of the best oils for mature skin, I totally love it and use it regularly.
It can minimise wrinkles and slow down the ageing process by reducing inflammation and cell degeneration.
Love helping you if I can with the info!
